Quality of ITR Tension Wheels
The range of tension wheels includes equipment from mini excavators to mining machines from KUBOTA® K008 (machine operating weight 0.9 tons) to KOMATSU® D475 A5 (machine operating weight 101 tons). The engineering and R&D departments are located in Italy, South Korea, and China, and collaborate to combine know-how, technology, and development capabilities. The engineering departments located in each manufacturing plant have specific knowledge of locally produced components, while the Italian Engineering headquarters coordinates all activities.
Functionality of ITR Tension Wheels
The function of the tension wheel is to support the track chain and guide it so that it is properly wound. Additionally, the tension wheel and tensioner work together to maintain a specific track tension. The most important controllable factor in track wear is the correct chain tension. The correct slack for all conventional tracks is about 50mm (+-5mm). For example, a track on an 80-horsepower machine with a deflection of 12mm will have a tension of 2540 kg when measured at the track tensioner. The same machine with a suggested deflection of 50mm will have a tension of 362 kg. An excessively tight track increases pressure, causing greater wear on the track bushings when in contact with the drive sprocket teeth and in the chain-tension wheel-roller contact. Tread hardness equal to or greater than the chain links, running rollers, and supporting rollers ensures impact resistance and balanced durability. Material type: SCMn3A, hardening 50-55 HRC. Lifetime lubrication to minimize maintenance.
