Functionality of ITR Tensioning Wheels
The function of the tensioning wheel is to appropriately tension and guide the track chain, ensuring its proper winding. The tensioning wheel and tensioner work together to maintain a specified degree of track tension. Efficient chain tension is a key factor affecting the durability of the undercarriage. Optimal sag for conventional tracks is about 50mm (+-5mm). For example, a track in a machine with 80-horsepower with a sag of 12mm will have a tension of 2540 kg when measured at the track tensioner. However, the same machine, with the suggested sag of 50 mm, will have a tension value of 362 kg. An excessively tight track increases pressure, which translates to greater wear of the track bushings and drive wheel teeth, as well as chain contact with the tensioning wheel and rollers. Appropriate tread hardness, equal to or greater than the chain links and running and supporting rollers, ensures impact resistance and balanced durability. Material: SCMn3A, hardened to 50-55 HRC. Constant lubrication ensures minimal maintenance throughout the entire service life.
