ITR Tension Wheel for CATERPILLAR 306
Our Tension wheels are made from selected high-quality steel alloys and are properly heat-treated to ensure exceptional field performance in extreme working conditions. We assemble them using state-of-the-art seals and bearing designs, meeting the most stringent industry specifications. Our Tension wheels are assembled on production lines with an automated oil filling process, ensuring their reliability and durability.
They are available in various configurations, including:
- Tension wheel shell
- Tension wheel with bushing and shaft
- Tension wheel with brackets
- Tension wheel with fork
- Tension wheel with tensioner
Our Tension wheels are designed to meet all the demands of working in tough conditions, providing reliability and long life.
Quality of ITR Tension Wheels
Our range includes a wide selection of tension wheels, from mini excavators to mining machines, ensuring high quality and performance. Starting from KUBOTA® K008 (with an operating weight of 0.9 tons) to KOMATSU® D475 A5 (with an operating weight of 101 tons), we offer comprehensive solutions. Our engineering and R&D departments in Italy, South Korea, and China collaborate to combine know-how, technology, and development capabilities. Local engineering departments in each production plant have specialized knowledge of the components produced, and the headquarters of Italian Engineering coordinates all activities.
Functionality of ITR Tension Wheels
The function of the tension wheel is to properly tension and guide the track chain, ensuring its correct winding. The tension wheel and tensioner work together to maintain a specified level of track tension. Efficient chain tension is a key factor affecting the durability of the undercarriage. The optimal deflection for conventional tracks is about 50mm (+-5mm). For example, a track in an 80-horsepower machine with a deflection of 12mm will have a tension of 2540 kg at the time of measurement in the track tensioner. In contrast, the same machine, with the suggested deflection of 50mm, will have a tension value of 362 kg. An excessively tight track increases pressure, leading to greater wear on the track bushings and drive wheel teeth, as well as contact of the chain with the tension wheel and rollers. The appropriate hardness of the tread, equal to or greater than that of the chain links and the drive and support rollers, ensures impact resistance and balanced durability. Material: SCMn3A, hardening 50-55 HRC. Constant lubrication minimizes maintenance throughout the service life.
