Our Idler wheels are made from selected high-quality steel alloys and are properly heat-treated to ensure exceptional field performance in extreme working conditions. They are assembled using state-of-the-art seals and bearing designs that meet the most stringent industry specifications. Functionality of ITR Tension Wheels
The function of the tension wheel is to properly tension and guide the track chain, ensuring its proper winding. The tension wheel and the tensioner work together to maintain a specified degree of track tension. Efficient chain tension is a key factor affecting the durability of the undercarriage. The optimal deflection for conventional tracks is about 50mm (+-5mm). For example, a track on an 80-horsepower machine with a 12mm deflection will have a tension of 2540 kg when measured at the track tensioner. Meanwhile, the same machine, with the suggested 50mm deflection, will have a tension of 362 kg. An excessively tight track increases pressure, leading to greater wear of the track bushings and drive sprocket teeth, as well as contact of the chain with the tension wheel and rollers. Appropriate tread hardness, equal to or greater than that of the chain links and support and carrier rollers, provides impact resistance and balanced durability. Material: SCMn3A, hardening 50-55 HRC. Constant lubrication minimizes maintenance throughout the entire service life.
