Functionality of ITR Tension Wheels
The function of the tension wheel is to properly tension and guide the track chain, ensuring its correct winding. The tension wheel and adjuster work together to maintain the specified track tension. Efficient chain tension is a key factor affecting undercarriage durability. Optimal slack for conventional tracks is about 50mm (+-5mm). For example, a track on an 80-horsepower machine with 12mm slack will have a tension of 2540 kg when measured in the track adjuster. Whereas the same machine, with the suggested 50 mm slack, will have a tension of 362 kg. An overly tight track increases pressure, resulting in greater wear of the track bushings and drive sprocket teeth, as well as contact between the chain and the tension wheel and rollers. Proper tread hardness, equal to or greater than the chain links and support rollers, provides impact resistance and balanced durability. Material: SCMn3A, hardening 50-55 HRC. Constant lubrication ensures minimized maintenance throughout the service life.
