Quality of ITR Tension Wheels
Our range includes a wide selection of tension wheels, from mini excavators to mining machines, ensuring high quality and performance. Starting from KUBOTA® K008 (with an operating weight of 0.9 tons) up to KOMATSU® D475 A5 (with an operating weight of 101 tons), we offer comprehensive solutions. Our engineering and R&D departments in Italy, South Korea, and China collaborate to combine know-how, technology, and development capabilities. Local engineering departments in each production facility have specialized knowledge of the components produced, while the headquarters of Italian Engineering coordinates all activities.
Functionality of ITR Tension Wheels
The function of the tension wheel is to properly tension and guide the track chain, ensuring its correct winding. The tension wheel and tensioner work together to maintain a specified degree of track tension. Efficient chain tension is a key factor affecting undercarriage longevity. The optimal sag for conventional tracks is about 50mm (+-5mm). For example, a track on an 80-horsepower machine with a sag of 12mm will have a tension of 2540 kg at the moment of measurement in the track tensioner. Meanwhile, the same machine, with the suggested sag of 50mm, will have a tension value of 362 kg. An overly tight track increases pressure, resulting in higher wear of the track bushings and drive wheel teeth, as well as increased contact between the chain and the tension wheel and rollers. Appropriate tread hardness, equal to or greater than that of the chain links and running and support rollers, ensures impact resistance and balanced durability. Material: SCMn3A, hardening 50-55 HRC. Constant lubrication minimizes maintenance throughout the lifespan.
