Quality of ITR Idler Wheels
Our range includes a wide selection of idler wheels, from mini excavators to mining machinery, ensuring high quality and performance. Starting from KUBOTA® K008 (with an operating weight of 0.9 tons) to KOMATSU® D475 A5 (with an operating weight of 101 tons), we offer comprehensive solutions. Our engineering and R&D departments in Italy, South Korea, and China collaborate to combine know-how, technology, and development capabilities. The local engineering departments in each production facility have specialized knowledge of the components produced, and the Italian Engineering headquarters coordinate all activities.
Functionality of ITR Idler Wheels
The function of the idler wheel is to properly tension and guide the track chain, ensuring its proper winding. The idler wheel and tensioner work together to maintain a specified degree of track tension. Efficient chain tension is a key factor affecting the undercarriage's durability. The optimal deflection for conventional tracks is about 50mm (+-5mm). For example, a track on an 80-horsepower machine with a deflection of 12mm will have a tension of 2540 kg when measured at the track tensioner. Whereas the same machine, with a suggested deflection of 50mm, will have a tension of 362 kg. An excessively tensioned track increases pressure, leading to greater wear of the track bushings and sprocket teeth, as well as contact of the chain with the idler wheel and rollers. The appropriate hardness of the tread, equal to or greater than the chain links and the running and support rollers, ensures impact resistance and balanced durability. Material: SCMn3A, hardening 50-55 HRC. Constant lubrication ensures minimal maintenance throughout the service life.
